About Lab

We are trying to establish new academic field between Biological Science and Computer Science. There are several possible ways to connect them together.

If we solve a Biological problem by means of Computer technology, that is Bioinformatics. If we inspire an algorithm from Biological phenomena, that is Artificial Intelligence in a wide sense such as Evolutionary Computation. If we build a computer with Biological devices, that is Biomolecular Computing or DNA computing.

Some of them are growing dramatically and others are still in the stage of early trial and errors. We'd like to balance all directions. It may be from somewhat oriental thought, but we believe it's important to achieve healthy development of academic fields.
